Warning on Election Offenses Committed During the 2022 Overseas Voting

The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai strongly advises the public adhere to Philippine Commission on Elections’ (COMELEC) rules and regulations during the 2022 National and Local Elections.

COMELEC has warned that violations of election laws, such as the unofficial publication of exit polls, propagation of false and alarming reports or information, circulation of false orders during the conduct of overseas voting, and other similar illegal activities, are taken seriously by the Commission.

COMELEC further says that Special Boards of Election Inspectors (SBEI) in polling precincts may gather information on such offenses and report them to COMELEC for evaluation on whether cases can be filed against erring individuals or groups.

The following information may be collected and reported to COMELEC:

1. Name of the offending party;

2. The name of his/her organization, political party, party-list group, or candidate in case of poll watchers, as well as observers, media entities, or civil society partners;

3. Description of the acts or omissions complained of;

4. The date of the commission of the offense; and

5. Sworn statement or affidavit of witnesses.

For the public’s information and guidance.
