The Consulate General of the Philippines in Dubai and N. Emirates received a donation in the amount of AED12,897.00 which is equivalent to Php143,612.00 from Al Rostamani International Exchange (ARIE), representing ARIE’s commitment to assist the victims of August 2012’s Southwest Monsoon and Tropical Storm Haikui.

Consul General Frank R. Cimafranca and Vice Consul Geronimo C. Suliguin received the donation from ARIE General Manager S. Karunakaran and A.M. Marketing & Head – Philippine Remittance Caloy N. Serrano last 26 May 2013. The donation was remitted to the Philippine Red Cross.

The fund drive which lasted for two (2) months, from 15 August – 15 October 2012, included the following:

• Acceptance and remittance of donations FREE of charge to the fund drive through ABS-CBN Foundation Inc.- Sagip Kapamilya.
• Acceptance and remittance of donations FREE of charge to the fund drive through GMA Kapuso Foundation, The Philippine Red Cross, and De La Salle University Fund Drive.

Al Rostamani International Exchange donated AED1 from the service fee collected for every personal remittance sent to the Philippines thru any of their branches.

A similar fund raising project for the victims of Typhoon Sendong in 2011 netted AED9,208.00 which was handed over to the Philippine Red Cross.
