Odessa, a customer service agent from Bur Dubai, and Sheryl, who works for an IT service desk, availed of the late night voting period last 22 April and met Tom, who is from Sharjah, at the PCG. All three claimed that they heard of the overseas voting in various media like TFC, Tag 91.9 and even the PCG’s website.
Asked why they opted to vote, Odessa and Sheryl claim that it is their responsibility as Filipino citizens while Tom wants his voice to be heard and encourages other Filipinos to go out and vote. Odessa, meanwhile, was more candid in saying that those who do not want to vote, especially those who can, have no right to complain since they don’t care in the first place.
The Consulate General encourages all registered voters (registered since 2007 onwards in Dubai) to go out and participate in this year’s national elections. Registered voters are requested to bring proof of identification.
