The Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Dubai and Northern Emirates Chapter held a Seminar on Financial Literacy and Addressing Family Issues for Overseas Filipinos and their Families last 22 March 2013 at the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai.

Vice Consul Geronimo Suliguin welcomed the participants and expressed his thanks for PICPA Dubai’s initiative as well as the support of the Filipino Community in Dubai and N. Emirates for the 4th financial literacy session conducted in Dubai. The event also marked the 2nd time the PCG hosted the worthy activity.

H.E. Ambassador Grace Relucio-Princesa oriented the participants on the importance of this undertaking and its relevance in the Philippine Government’s program of reintegration. Ambassador Princesa was also delighted that organizations in Dubai are keeping up with the program.

The whole day activity delved on OF’s situation, dreams and despair, the concepts of savings and investing. Workshops on budgeting, dream mapping and saving for investment were also held. A lecture and workshop on borrowing and getting out of debt was also conducted together with discussions and group sharing on the issues confronting OFs and their families. How barriers to reintegration could be addressed was also given attention.

Vivien Napenas, Lorna Boquiren, Edgar Bacason, Bal Junio, and Hosanna Gloria were aming the speakers and facilitators of the financial literacy.
