The Consulate General of the Republic of the Philippines in Dubai and Northern Emirates welcomes the participation of Filipino artists in this year’s Sharjah Biennial 11 (SB11) held last 13-17 March 2013 in Sharjah, UAE.

Filipino filmmaker Khavn De La Cruz headed the list of Filipino artists who participated in the Biennial. The list includes Jon Lazam, Ivy Baldoza, Dan Gil, Mes De Guzman, Lav Diaz, Roxlee, Emerson Reyes, Kaloy Olavides, Kiri Dalena, Poklong Anading, John Torres, Raya Martin, Martha Atienza and Yason Banal.

The Brockas, a Filipino group based in Sharjah, also held a concert at the SAF New Art Spaces, Heritage Area, on 16 March 2013.

According to SB11, a total of 15 films made by Filipino artist were shown in the festival. The films are also on show every weekend for two months in SB11’s cinema space.

The SB11 included performances, films, lectures, the annual March Meeting, a symposium which featured thematic sessions and moderated panel discussions. For more details, visithttp://www.sharjahart.org/biennial/sharjah-biennial-11/welcome.
