The Consulate General of the Republic of the Philippines in Dubai and N. Emirates, on behalf of the Philippine Government and the victims of Typhoon Pablo, thanked Pure Gold Jewellers LLC for the latter’s donations of USD50,000 which was coursed through the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). In a letter addressed to Mr. Firoz G.H, Merchant, CEO of the Pure Gold Group, Consul General Frank R. Cimafranca conveyed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Merchant and the entire Pure Gold Group for their generosity and expression of sympathy to the Filipino people.

Earlier, on 12 December 2012, Mr. Merchant called on the Consul general to introduce himself and his company, saying that Pure Gold Jewellers LLC employs a substantial number of Filipinos in its branches all over the Middle East. Mr. Merchant was even apologetic that he came to the Consulate General without any prior appointment and his visit was made at a very short notice, and thanked the Consul general for accommodating him just the same. It was on this occasion that he committed, on his company’s behalf, to donate to the victims of Typhoon Pablo expressing deep sympathy and concern for those who have lost loved ones and livelihood as a result of the calamity.

National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Executive Director and Defense Undersecretary Benito Ramos confirmed the receipt of the USD50,000 donation and also sent a letter of acknowledgement and thanks to Mr. Merchant.
