The Consulate General of the Republic of the Philippines in Dubai and N. Emirates concluded its yearlong overseas absentee voting registration campaign last 31 October with Ms. Ruby G. Danuya as its 22, 498 and final registrant.

Ms. Danuya who hails from Gen. Santos City heard of the registration while listening to Filipino Rhythm, a popular radio show in Dubai which airs late in the evening.

She informed her employer of the schedule and the reasons why she needed to register, who in turn had her brought to the Consulate General from Jumeirah so she could fulfill her wish.

The Consulate General was able to sustain its OAVR campaign up to the last day of the registration. Dubai Duty Free granted its request for a one day registration conducted within its accommodations. Those who were securing OECs were also able to enjoy the service with an OAV Team dispatched to cater to the group.

The Consulate General expresses its thanks for the strong support demonstrated by the Filipino community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, the various organizations and clubs that helped facilitated the registration process, individuals who made the initiatives to organize and participate in the registration, the various media outfits which kept the community well informed, the volunteers and the members of the OAV Team whose tireless efforts complemented the overwhelming support showed by the community. It hopes that the same enthusiasm shall be shown during the conduct of the elections in 2013.
