The Consulate General of the Republic of the Philippines welcomes the inclusion of Isda (Fable of the Fish) and Crossfire – two distinct Filipino films – in this year’s 8th Dubai International Film Festival.

Isda (Fable of the Fish) tells the story of Lina and Miguel. Lina dreams of becoming a mother despite her advanced age and her husband’s lack of enthusiasm. She falls pregnant and gives birth to a fish. Soon, her love for her offspring as well as her marriage is tested by the strange and surreal moments that surround them. The film runs Saturday, December 10 2011, 09:30PM (MOE 7) and Monday, December 12 2011, 03:00PM (MOE 5).

Crossfire is an examination of lives caught in the crossfire of social and personal, physical and emotional strife. Bai Magdas and Lingig are trade partners. Bitoon, daughter of Bai Magdas and the love interest of Lingig, searches of greener pastures. Datu Mantukaw lost his family in armed conflict and offers to marry Bitoon by proposing dowry to Bai Magdas. Their lives intertwine in a temporary shelter as they struggle to grasp the realities of their scant, dreary and desolate individual lives. It runs Thursday, December 08 2011, 10:30PM (MOE 11) and Monday, December 12 2011, 12:00PM (MOE 5).

The Consulate General of the Republic of the Philippines enjoins the Filipino Community in Dubai and the N. Emirates to see this special offering of select Filipino films.
