Three Dubai-based women entrepreneurs shared their inspiring stories and ignited the entrepreneurial spirit of participants at the “We Are WOMENtrepreneurs” seminar held at the Rizal Hall of the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai last 25 March 2022.
The seminar, which was conducted in-person at the Consulate and simultaneously broadcast on the Consulate’s Facebook page, featured Ms. Rowena Aggabao, managing partner and co-owner of business consultancy firm A&R Partners Ltd.; Ms. Divina Jimenez, managing partner at Joy Bubble Coffee Shop LLC.; and Ms. Melon Perez, founder and head of creatives at The MelRish Studio.
The three women entrepreneurs each shared their personal stories of how they were able to become the entrepreneurs that they are now. Coming from different backgrounds, each speaker talked about the challenges they faced and how they navigated them as a woman, especially that they started their businesses in a foreign country. They also shared tips on how to get started with a business, shared the lessons they learned on being a new entrepreneur, and answered questions from the participants.
“We hope that through their stories, you (participants) might be able to relate or see how you too, can be entrepreneurs like them. We hope this afternoon’s session would not only be inspiring but empowering as well,” said Vice Consul Paola Belle Ebora in her opening remarks wherein she also underscored the importance of the diverse role of women in society.
The seminar is part of the Consulate’s activities in line with the 2022 National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC), which has “We Make CHANGE Work for Women” as theme and focuses on the sub-theme “Agenda ng Kababaihan, Tungo sa Kaunlaran.” It was organized by the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and Northern Emirates, in partnership with the Philippine Business Council- Dubai and Northern Emirates.
