FILIPINOS IN DUBAI LEARN URBAN FARMING

The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, together with the Department of Agriculture, held the second session of the Agribusiness Webinar series on 24 September 2022. 24 September 2022, Dubai, UAE - Overseas Filipinos (OFs) in Dubai and the Northern Emirates learned how to start their own urban farm at the recently concluded webinar, "Kabayan, Mag-Urban Farming Na Tayo!".

Mr. Kevin V. Quiñones, a Licensed Agriculturist at the Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Plant Industry-Crop Research and Production Support Division, shared urban farming techniques and strategies to webinar participants. He also gave a step-by-step guide on how to start their own urban farm and turn it into a viable enterprise. 


During the question-and-answer portion of the webinar, the participants showed great interest particularly on the use of organic fertilizers. Moreover, the participants expressed appreciation for the session as many of them chose the particular topic following the success of the first session of the Agribusiness webinar last 10 September 2022.

The session is the second installment of the Agribusiness webinar series conducted by the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates in partnership with the Philippines' Department of Agriculture (DA) to promote awareness on micro-agribusiness among OFs as a potential source of additional income for their family and even as an alternative to working abroad. The webinar was conducted via Zoom Video Conferencing and was simultaneously broadcast on Facebook. END
