OVERSEAS FILIPINOS IN DUBAI LEARN ABOUT INVESTMENTS AND INSURANCE IN FINANCIAL LITERACY SEMINAR

15 October 2022, Dubai, UAE – Over 50 Overseas Filipinos (OFs) based in Dubai and the Northern Emirates learned how to make sound investments and choose insurance options in the second module of the Financial Literacy Seminar Series spearheaded by the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and Northern Emirates (PCG Dubai).
In the first module of the seminar series held the previous week, participants were given pointers on how to save, budget, and manage their debt. The second module aimed to give participants the basics in making sound investments and selecting the insurance product that suits them best. Resource speakers Ms. Charry dela Cruz, Ms. Susan Francisco, Ms. Lowella Recto of Pag-IBIG, and Mr. Mark Roue Oliva of Social Security System (SSS), from the private and government sectors, gave the basic concepts on investments, investment strategies, and investments options offered by Pag-IBIG and SSS.
The half-day seminar was interactive and engaging to the participants. To gauge the participants’ knowledge of their risk appetite and investment styles, they were given handouts which may serve as guide in selecting the best investment portfolio for them. They also actively participated during the open forum as they clarified some terms and coverage programs of Pag-IBIG and SSS.
In conclusion, the resource speakers reminded the participants of the importance of protecting their hard-earned income and learning the fundamentals of investments and insurance in order to reach financial independence and success.
