22 October 2022, Dubai, UAE – Over 50 Overseas Filipinos (OFs) in Dubai and the Northern Emirates learned more about investing in real estate and real estate investment trusts (REITs) in the Philippines at the recently concluded third session of the Financial Literacy Seminar of the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and Northern Emirates.
The three-hour session was conducted by resource speakers Ms. Susan Francisco, a former real estate agent and currently a senior consultant and investment adviser; and Ms. Charry Dela Cruz, an assistant Vice President of a private bank in Dubai. Ms. Francisco discussed the basics of real estate such as types and characteristics of property while the topic was expounded by Ms. Dela Cruz, who introduced to the participants real estate properties (REITs) and its pros and cons.
The participants, some of whom are already investing in real estate, were very engaged and interested in the topic as they all want to ensure that their hard-earned money do not go to waste. At the breakout session, the participants exchanged opinions and shared their experiences in investing in real estate. Afterwards, one representative from each group shared to the big group their group members’ real estate journeys and learning experiences.
In her closing remarks, Vice Consul Paola Belle Ebora expressed once again her warm appreciation to the financial literacy mentors and participants for their continued support in the conduct of the financial literacy seminar series. She underscored the need to raise awareness on investing in real estate as the OFs are using their hard-earned money that they worked for overseas.
The Financial Literacy Seminar series is a project of PCG Dubai since 2017. The training modules were developed with the assistance of Dubai-based financial experts and mentors. END
