PH Consulate In Dubai Completes the Third Leg of its Karaban Project in Ajman

03 May 2025, Ajman, UAE  - Over 300 Filipinos residing in the emirates of Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, and Sharjah benefitted from the services rendered by the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) Dubai during the recently concluded Consular Outreach Mission held at the Radisson Ajman. The activity, conducted under the leadership of Consul General Marford M. Angeles, formed part of the Consulate’s Karaban Project.

Applicants were able to conveniently access key consular services, including passport renewal, notarization of legal documents (such as special powers of attorney and affidavits), and civil registration services. In addition to consular offerings, MWO Dubai provided services such as contract verification, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) membership registration, Social Security System (SSS) and Pag-IBIG Fund services, and Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) support.

A total of 603 service transactions were processed during the outreach mission, which was strategically held over the weekend to accommodate the schedules of the working Filipino community.

The Consulate’s Overseas Voting (OV) Team also extended its support during the outreach by assisting 116 registered voters with online pre-enrollment and online voting for the ongoing midterm elections. Other participants received important information regarding the overseas voting process and were encouraged to register once the Commission on Elections announces the commencement of the registration period for the 2028 Presidential Elections.

As part of the Karaban Project’s advocacy for financial empowerment, participants were able to attend a Financial Literacy Seminar conducted by Registered Financial Planners (RFP) Dr. Ben Lebig Jr., Ms. Charry Dela Cruz, and Mr. Jordan Diola. The RFP team conducted a meaningful discussion on building a personal finance strategy specifically improving cash flow, getting out of debt, building emergency funds, getting protected from life's risks, and investing for the future.

The outreach also featured a Town Hall Meeting which was supported by community leaders from Ajman. The meeting served as a platform to provide updates on consular services, overseas voting, assistance-to-nationals, and cultural and public diplomacy initiatives as well as the implementation of the online contract verification system beginning 01 May 2025 and the benefits available to active OWWA members, such as scholarship grants and medical assistance.

Participants were also given the opportunity to raise their concerns and pose questions directly to officials from the Consulate and MWO, enabling a productive dialogue between the Filipino community and government representatives.

Overall, the Consular Outreach in Ajman under the Karaban Project was a resounding success. In addition to the services rendered, the Consulate was able to register a total of 442 overseas Filipinos in its community database, further strengthening its engagement with the Filipino diaspora in the Northern Emirates.
