04 December 2016, Dubai, UAE. The Philippine Consulate participated in the 45th UAE National Day by designing a Philippine booth which was displayed on 29 November – 04 December 2016.
In celebration of the 45th UAE National Day, the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development invited the Consulate through the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi to participate and join the other 14 booths from different Consulates and Embassies.
The stand displayed items which depicted Philippine culture, fashion, history and tradition. Bamboo table displays; “palayok” (clay pot); Jose Rizal’s “Noli Me Tangere” and “El Filibusterismo” books; “banderitas” (a small flag-shaped pieces of paper strung up during festivals); “tinalak” (traditional cloth from Mindanao) and the jeepney fender were among the displays which highlighted the booth.
A television screen was set up above the jeepney fender which played the Department of Tourim’s video on famous Philippine destinations. On each side of the booth were tablets which plays videos encouraging investments in the Philippine market.
In addition, a delegation from the National Commission for Culture and Arts were invited to perform in Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaima, Fujairah, Sharjah and Dubai from 29 November – 04 December 2016 during the celebration of the big event.END
