27 April 2017, Dubai, U.A.E. Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes led the Philippine officials from the Philippine Embassy in Dubai and the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai in participating in the Kabayan Cultural Day held on 22 April 2017 at the Expo Center at the Emirates of Sharjah.

The Kabayan Cultural Day was one of the side events in the recently concluded Sharjah Children's Reading Festival, an annual event held annually under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

In his remarks, Consul General Paul Cortes congratulated the officials and organizers for the successful hosting of the annual Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival.  He also expressed his appreciation for including the Philippines in the program and for providing an opportunity for Filipinos in UAE to showcase the culture and talent of the Filipino people.

Under this year’s theme “Discover Beyond,” the event opened doors toward greater understanding and appreciation of each other's cultures. The Consul General urged

participants in the event to visit the Philippines and explore the wonderful sites of the country and experience the warmth and hospitality of the Filipino people.

The entire day was lined up with activities that featured the values and culture of the Philippines, and demonstrated the Filipino skills, talent, ingenuity, and craftsmanship.  END
