13 May 2017, Dubai, U.A.E. Some 10 Overseas Filipinos were chosen as Ulirang Ina Awardees at a Ceremony hosted by the Filipino Ladies of Dubai and the Philippine Consulate General on 13 May 2017 at the Rizal Hall of the Philippine Consulate General. Filipino Ladies of Dubai Chair Dr. Yasmin Cortes, spouse of Consul General Paul Cortes, spearheaded this event held in celebration of Mother’s Day. She commended the 10 awardees for their sacrifices for their families and for selflessly dedicating all their efforts for their loved ones back home in the Philippines.
The whole day event included a special Photo Shoot for the awardees; short training baking course and a short program covering the viewing of greetings from the awardees’ friends and loved ones and the awarding ceremony.
The 10 awardees are: Marlene Ventura; Marivic Andres; Anabelle Salibad; Myra Ignacio; Maretes Mosquera; Marybeth Cemacio; Yhelen Mangurali; Enriline San Juan; Rosalie Carpena; and Rhoda Fabular.
The awardees who became emotional at the event expressed their appreciation to Consul General Cortes, Dr. Yasmin Cortes and the organizing committee of the first Ulirang Ina event in Dubai, to which they were very proud to be part of.
This is the first time the Consulate and the Community, through the Filipino Ladies of Dubai, are collaborating to honor Overseas Filipinas on Mother’s Day. The Filipino Ladies of Dubai has also been in the forefront of cultural and community activities that showcase the creativity and ingenuity of the Filipino and that provide deep social awareness among the Filipinos of Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
