18 June 2017, Dubai, U.A.E. The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and the Filipino Ladies of Dubai honored 10 overseas Filipino fathers in commemoration of Father's Day 2017. At last Friday's event, 16 June 2017, the Filipino dads were presented the Ulirang Ama Awards for their tireless and selfless dedication to fatherhood in spite of their distance from their families in the Philippines.

The 10 awardees were: Albert G. Orpilla; Eduardo Francisco; Edward Licas; Ronald Bucad; Elmar Salveron; Danilo Borres; Julito Bungcasan Jr.; Ranniel Aromin; Eduardo De la Paz; and Ferdinan Santos.

The event included free haircut session; a photo shoot; blood pressure check-up; fitness training; “boodle fight”; and a short awarding ceremony. The awardees got emotional to the video messages of their families mostly based in the Philippines.

This is the first time the Consulate together with the Filipino Ladies of Dubai has ever given such an award to overseas Filipinos. In her remarks, Dr. Yasmin Cortes said that this simple ceremony allows overseas Filipinos to feel that society understands and respects their roles as providers for their families. In this humble event, she added, the Consulate and Filipino Ladies of Dubai hoped that they would feel more appreciated and loved not only by their families but also by the overseas Filipino community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.END
