16 July 2017, Dubai, U.A.E. Philippine Consul General in Dubai Paul Raymund Cortes highlighted the importance of sharing the perspective of the Filipinos on global and international issues through film. At the Photo Journalism Workshop conducted by one of the Filipino community's photojournalists held on 14 July 2017 at the Pakistan Educational Academy attended by some 20 aspiring photographers, he shared insights on how overseas Filipinos can share with the rest of the global community their philosophies and viewpoints on certain issues through the medium of photography.

Through this, he said that the Filipinos could play a more active role in providing other ethnicities and nationalities the unique Filipino perspective and narrative on a global concerns such as the environment; migration and development; health; trade and investment; and human development. He said that he hopes more Filipinos would rise beyond the criteria of aesthetics as far as photography is concerned and endeavor to use that medium as a means of propagating our philosophies and viewpoints.
