17 September 2017, Dubai, UAE. Nearly 300 Filipino expatriates renewed their passports when the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and Northern Emirates opened its doors to the public on Friday, 15 September 2017, a weekend in the UAE.
The Special Consular Service focused on processing the passport applications of those who had prior online appointment for the months of October and November 2017. It aimed to free up the Consulate's appointment system to allow Filipino expatriates in Dubai and the Northern Emirates to book for the renewal of their passports at an earlier date. The Special Consular Services resulted to around 300 free appointment slots in October and November.
In addition to the passports renewed, the team processed 102 notarial and legal documents, 6 civil registrations, extended assistance to 16 walk-in ATN cases. The consular team also registered 245 new overseas absentee voters.
The Philippine Consulate General reminds Filipino expatriates in Dubai and the Northern Emirates to book their appointment at least 10 months before the expiration of their passports to avoid delays and any inconveniences in the future. END
