26 April 2017, Dubai, UAE – The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, in partnership with Sara Advocates and Legal Consultants, held a seminar on common legal issues, processes and procedures in the UAE at the Rizal Hall of the Philippine Consulate on Wednesday, April 25.
Some 100 officers and staff of the Philippine Consulate General, the Philippine Overseas Labor Office and other attached agencies, and Filipino community leaders and members in Dubai and Northern Emirates attended the 3-hour forum.
Atty. Eisa Khalifeh of Sara Advocates discussed the legal issues commonly faced by Filipino nationals in the UAE such as absconding, immorality, drugs, and unpaid debts, including the pertinent police and court processes and procedures involved. He provided important information and advice for those who may be confronted with such issues.
Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes expressed the Philippine Consulate General’s readiness to extend assistance and requested the Filipino community to disseminate information on legal issues to other Filipinos in the country.
The seminar is part of Consulate’s efforts to reach out to spread awareness about the host country’s legal system and relevant legislation. In the previous months, the Consulate partnered with the Dubai Police, accredited organizations, and civil society groups to conduct various seminars for the Filipino expatriate community. END
