05 November 2018, Dubai, UAE – The Philippine Business Council – Dubai (PBC-Dubai), in cooperation with the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, held Interface 2018: Ascend Through Innovation at Palazzo Versace Ballroom in Dubai on 02 November 2018.
Interface, first held in 2015, has become PBC-Dubai’s signature annual event, was created to serve as a platform where Filipino entrepreneurs and executives and key personalities in the business sector in Dubai can interact and hopefully learn from each other.
In her welcome remarks, Ms. Marian “Bobbie” Carella, Chairwoman of PBC-Dubai, hailed the qualities of Filipinos, particularly its entrepreneurs, for their resilience, talent and creativity. Philippine Consul General in Dubai Paul Raymund P. Cortes, on the other hand, highlighted the increasing profile of Filipino entrepreneurs in Dubai and the Northern Emirates and challenged Filipinos to keep raising their profile in the UAE, endeavoring more to make their mark in this dynamic city.
The event featured talks by two distinguished business executives: Ms. Nisha Jagtiani, Group Director of Landmark Group, and Mr. Junie del Mundo, Chief Executive of EON Group. Ms Jagtiani discussed the ever-increasing role of innovation, particularly digital technology, in today’s business, while Mr. del Mundo expounded on the critical aspect of communication between a company and its client market in running a successful business in this information-driven environment.
A round-table discussion featured Michele Grosso, Co-Founder and CEO of Democrance; Bong Guerrero, CEO and Founder of Fashion Forward (FFWD FZ); Ian Holton, Wooqer, Regional Vice President of Wooqer; and Peter Maung Sint, General Manager of Intertech Vision Group. They offered insights and exchanged views on how technology and innovation shape the economy and change people’s lives.
The event also welcomed (Ret.) General Eliseo Rio Jr., Acting Secretary of the Department of Information and Communication Technology, and Former Secretary Atty. Rodolfo Salalima, who were in Dubai to lead the Philippine delegation to the 18th International Telecommunication Union Plenipotentiary Conference which was also being held in Dubai. END
