05 January 2019, Dubai, UAE --- Philippine Consul General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Paul Raymund Cortes, led the welcome of the Philippine National Football Team, Azkals, who are participating in the Asian Football Cup UAE 2019 from 5 January to 1 February 2019. In his Welcome Remarks at a Press Conference for the team held at Max’s Restaurant, the Consul General welcomed the Azkals to Dubai and called for the community’s strongest support for its participation in the AFC, the first time the Philippines has qualified for the Cup.

Some 10 members of the local media and social media influencers attended the conference. The Philippines is grouped together with Korea, China and Kyrgystan and will be playing against Korea and Kyrgystan at matched to be held in Dubai. A match against China is scheduled in Abu Dhabi.

The top 2 of each bracket will move on to the next round and 4 best third-placers from among the 6 brackets.

The Consulate has urged the community to show their support to the team by watching the Azkals’ matches.
