The Arab Fashion Week is Dubai’s platform for local Arab designers and Dubai-based designers to present their creativity in an international setting. This is also Dubai’s avenue to present the city as one of the global fashion capitals and leading creative hub in the Middle East and Africa.

On 21 November, Amato Couture by Filipino designer Furne One featured Filipino celebrity MayMay Entrata wearing Amato’s prized creations, making Entrata the first Filipino celebrity to ever grace the Arab Fashion Week catwalk.

On 25 November, another Filipino designer, Izshka Zeta of Jacy Kay Haute Couture, unveiled the Monarchs of the Opera Swarovski Collection at the Swarovski Design Center. The Samar-born artist was the only Filipino chosen by Swarovski for this year’s Swarovski in Art and Design.

On 26 November, Michael Cinco, another Filipino designer based in Dubai, showcased his collection at the Dubai City Walk. Cinco, along with Ezra Santos and Furne One, are considered Dubai’s most popular and respected fashion designers and the vanguard of Dubai’s designer elite. They have paved the way for other Filipino designers like Zeta and Ryan Pacioles.

The Consulate General in Dubai has always lent its strongest support for Filipino artists in Dubai – painters, photographers, music producers, and fashion designers – as part of its strategy to continuously inspire Overseas Filipinos to express themselves through the various art forms and be more vigorous in promoting Philippine culture and heritage.
